PC Frezzing

Hi guys I had XP then I got Windows 7 and now my PC freezes every once here and there I can't even hit the ctrl-alt-del to reboot or anything the only way to recover is to hit the reset button. I know it is not overheating cause I checked and double checked my temps. I like windows 7 but I might have to go back to XP if I can't figure this out. Can anyone help me with this please?

Also one more thing is there a way I can reset the bios back to the way it use to be when I first got it, caqn I take the bios battery out for a few min and put it back in?

Have you ran the Windows 7 upgrade advisor to make sure all your software/hardware is compatible? If your machine was running fine until the upgrade, a software program or a piece of hardware is most likely causing the lockup and I'd suspect software. You can jumper the motherboard, remove the battery, or if its a newer motherboard you may have a "reset to default" option in the bios.

Same problem all of a sudden with Vista x64

Can anyone suggest what I could do to find out why I am having freeze problems w/ Vista? Is there some software that I could use to check for issues? I have Norton Internet Security and Spysweeper, both current and scans done. I have 8GB of memory also................

My PC freezes and then the only option becomes reset as Ctrl_Alt_Dlt does nothing.

hx.

I had the exact same problem when I started this thread but what I did was update windows 7 and so far everything seams to be working fine, or you can do what usnavyretired requested and go to that link. Maybe you can try that if you havent already.
