Windows Vista HP OEM question

Hi,

I'm about to wipe Windows Vista Home Premium OEM from my PC and replace it with Windows 7 Home Premium OEM when it arrives on 22nd October.

Is there any point in trying to sell my already activated Vista OEM disc? Is it worthless?

I don't want Vista anywhere near my PC so if I can sell it on, I will.

Thoughts?

It's reusable as long as it's not installed on any other machine. It can be reactivated by calling MS. Value, eh... maybe to someone.

Hmmm, that's a bit like saying - it's reusable, if you are going to use it as a coaster for your coffee mug.

I'm not sure I fully understand your reply. I'm not sure if you are inferring that it is worth something to somebody if they can reactivate it illegally.

Anyway, thanks for the reply.

I'm sorry if I confused you. To clarify: your OEM Disk is reuseable, and can be reactivated over the phone very easily by calling MS. But,...there are two criteria that must be met for the install to be legal or legit.

1. It can not be installed on any other machine with the same license. (I gave you this one.)
2. The license that came with it may not be used to activate the OS if it has been used to activate any system that is currently active. (You'll take care of this when you wipe the drive.)

Both statements pretty much say the same thing, but are percieved differently. One statement refers to the OS and the other statement refers to the license. Bottom line: The license is good for only one machine!

How much do you think Vista is worth?
I was tying to say: I don't think Vista is going to be worth much at all. Especially with the release of Win 7, and XP still extremely widespread. You may have a few people who may be interested in Vista, but probably not enough to keep it's value up. Of course I have heard 'there's a sucker born every minute!'. And yet, still you may find somebody who will actually want Vista for some valid reason.

Can't you deactivate it? This way the individual that might buy it won't have to call MS? I think I read an article on how to deactivate all your programs and do a clean install. I forgot where I read it though. Maybe it was MaximumPC.
