what works with OS 7

Going to upgrade to a new computer when OS 7 comes out in the fall. I've run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor on my XPpro Dell and find my current Canon scanner will have problems. Wanted to get a single All-in-1 printer/scanner anyway, but when I look at OS compatibility, I don't see the OS 7 listed. If the printer/scanner is OK for Vista, will it be OK for Windows 7?

I would consider posting which one you're considering and see if anyone is using it. I ran Windows7 beta 32-bit for months and then went to 64-bit and had no hardware problems. I don't have a sound card and that seems to be the biggest problem. Most of my peripherals are running Vista drivers.

You might also email the company for whatever printer you're considering and ask.

Good idea PatrickT. I am surprised that so many computer software/hardware businesses haven't yet indicated they are Windows 7 compatable

Might want to call it Win 7 since OS 7 sounds like an Apple OS

In theory - any printer that is "Vista" ready will work on Win 7.

I just bought a HP 6500 all-in one printer. It is running on Vista at the moment.
I ran the Win7 compatibility scan and it says he printer will work with Win7.

If it's a fairly recent scanner I wouldn't run out and buy something new. Win 7 is due out Oct. 22, right? Manufacturers drivers are probablly being written for it as we speak. I would suspect that new and updated drivers will start posting to thier sites at anytime now.

If your computer is working well enough now, I would wait until it comes out and then wait some more so that others can go through the frustration of ironing out all the problems that inevitably occur with new operating systems.

Well, I'm currently running Windows 7 and I have found a few issues so far. The first one is I have a wireless printer and the printer driver says it's Vista capable (most Vista drivers will work for Win 7), but the wireless portion will not work. The second one is was a strange one for I only discovered yesterday, I installed Adobe CS4 Production Suite and everything seemed to installed right. However, when I ran it an annoying message pop up on me stating that I had to first run it in Administrator mode in order to activate the serial number, I scratched my head saying to myself I only have one account and it has administrator privileges. Did some searching on the web and to find out the Win 7 and Vista has a old administrator account hidden (I tried running in administrator mode, but that didn't work....or at least I don't think it did, but I'll get to that part latter) that one can use by going into the cmd command as an administrator to make that account seen. So I did, logged on to that account, ran that account and it worked (or so I thought). Went back to my old way, ran Adobe Premiere Pro and the same message popped up, back to square one or least I thought, but the program worked after I dismissed the pop-up. Went to the help menu to see if it was activated, but saw that it wasn't, open up a file and went back to the help menu this time it was activated...it must be an Adobe thing. So I just lowered the security messages on my account (I'm the only one who installs software on this computer and I have pretty good anti-virus software installed), that way that annoying message doesn't pop up on me. Sorry for the long explanation for the second one, but if I was a novice with computers and this situation had occur then I would have thrown in the white towel, but I thrive on these type of challenges to see if I can fix these problems myself (plus I had no choice I need Adobe Premiere to do a project for a class that I'm taking in college ). However, I did a work around, but this kind of work around shouldn't have to be done in the first place, I sent a message to Microsoft and Adobe to see if they can look into the problem, the reason I sent it to both I don't know what end the problem exists (Adobe's or Microsoft's), but I'm guessing it's Abodes. So I agree with David to wait until the problems are ironed out, unless you like to come up with you own solution(s).
