Vista Internet Problem

I have searched the forum and web but have not been able to find a solution to this problem. I just recently got an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC with Windows Vista on it. The most frustrating problem I encounter is that the internet tends to sporadically "hang".

At first I thought it was a compatibility issue with Firefox 3.5 but I have used IE, Chrome and Opera all having the same problem. What appears to be at random intervals the internet will just cease to work. The loading screen will just hang. At first I thought it was due to my impatience but after having walked the dog and returning 45 mins later to find the loading screen still there, I don't believe this is the problem.

I was just wondering if there were any suggestions to this problem. Looks like I will be one of the first people in line for Windows 7 with the way things are going with Vista!
