Scroll function will not work in Vista
I have Vista on a laptop and the scroll wheel on the mouse does not make the page scroll as it is suppose to. I can scroll the page using the sliding bars at the side of the page but the page will not scroll if I use the mouse wheel.
I have tried 4 different mice and the same thing happens. All the buttons on the mouse work but the scroll wheel doesnt make anything happen. I have checked the mouse settings in device manager and it says the mouse is working ok. The scroll function is enabled in the mouse properties but no success.. I did get the scroll thing to work a couple of times but when I closed the window and re opened it, same problem. wouldn't work. The same thing with the mouse pad on the comp, I can't get it to scroll other than sliding the bars at the side of the page. I have reinstalled the drivers and windowns tells me it is running the latest drivers for this device. I have rebooted the computer after plugging in the new mouse but still no luck. Just for the record, I am using a USB mouse. Everything else works fine with the mouse but not the scroll function. It obviously is not the mouse at fault because I have tried 4 differen ones and they all do the same. This is very frustratiing. Can anyone suggest what else to try or is this something that happens in Vista. It just seems strange I have got it going a couple of times but soon as I shut the page down and open it back up, it doesnt work.
