Hi gang
Ok here is what I have, 2 HD's, one with XP, and one with the new WIN 7. When I installed the Win 7 I disconnected the XP drive, (Don't ask me why) now I cannot dual boot the two. What can I do to correct this.? XP keeps doing the start up. Should I have left the XP HD connected when installing the Win 7.? being I already installed the Win 7, can I format that Win 7 drive and do another install with the XP HD connected.? What I want to do is have a dual boot so I can choose which OP system I want, either XP or Win 7 on boot up. Thanx....Gunny

Hi Gang
I think I have answered my own question from the previous post, now if I want to install the new copy of Win 7, on the same 1T HD, do I just take out the HD I have Win 7 installed on, and leave the XP HD in and do the new Win 7 install.? Will this give me the chance to say split this 1T HD into two even partitions, one for the XP and one for the Win 7.? Thanx....Gunny |

One way you can work with the existing system, redvette, is to boot to the bios and select which hdd you want to boot from. On my Asus mobo I can simply tap the F8 key and select which hard drive as a boot drive.
Your question in post 2 is correct. By reinstalling Win7 with the XP drive connected, you can split the hdd and create a true dual boot. Then reconnect the other hdd and wipe the other Win7 installation. |
