new laptop - no installation CD
Just picked up a cheap Toshiba (celeron 900). Have not opened it yet.
Salesperson tells me that it does not come with an installation CD, but that I will be prompted to burn one when I boot up. Anyone know if this will give me an installation CD, or is it only a hard drive image to restore to? Thanks |

It will make a recovery CD. If you use it, it will put the laptop back to the way it was when first turned on.

Thanks for the help.
I am not very happy about that. I guess the only option after that is going in and unistalling all the excess. |

The good news is that a lappy with a celeron 900 should have only cost you 50 dollars or so...A brand new XP cd is $125.00 or more.
