thunderbird mail

I have just built my own computer and added windows 7 as my operating system. I am having problems with E mail I was used to Outlook express and now find I can't use it so have to come up with a new one I hate windows live. So downloaded thunderbird and like it except when I get attachments I was always able to open all the mail I got and see it immediately now I find with thunderbird I can't open my attachments could anyone tell me how to do that?

I'm a little confused as to what you're asking.

Are you asking about moving all your saved mail from OE to Thunderbird?

Or are you asking about the way in which Thunderbird handles attachments (for this one, go to Tools > Options, and click the "Attachments" button")

Or something else?

I was asking about the attachments. I have gone to tools but it just says it will download and open files in a file I have specified. I want to know if there is a way that when I open the email that I can open and read or see the attachment right in the email like you could in Outlook express.

Images should show up, and *maybe* plain text files. Anything else, no.
