Do all versions have the capability to run in 32bit or 64bit mode? I believe that I have read that Win7 installs both 32bit & 64bit modes.

Win 7 is shipped with two DVD's...32 bit and 64 bit...You pick one and install it.
Have you run the compatibility test tool? Windows 7 Compatibility Center |

64 bit /32bit
When you buy the OEM windows 7 you have to pick which version you want (64 bit or 32 bit ) The full retail version you get both. In the retail upgrade you should get both versions.
