Win 7 odd screen
Just upgraded XPpro to Win 7pro via clean install. After the DELL splash screen, I get a black screen (for @ 30 seconds) asking me to choose Win 7 or the original OS. Since the install was on a newly formated partition, there is no other OS. I tossed the file OldWindows file on the C: drive, but I still get that black asking screen. Anyway to eliminate it?

What happens when you select the "Original OS" option?

The black screen comes up with a choice to start with an
Earlier Version of Windows or Windows 7. If I click on Windows 7 or do nothing, the computer starts and runs normally. If I click on the Earlier Version of Windows, I get another black screen with the message that Windows could not start because of a configuration problem. Could not read from the selected HD. Pressing ESC takes me back to the orig black screen, where I can also press f8 for the same kinds of choices whenever you restart and press f8. One of the choices was to repair. I tried, but nothing. I hadn't gotten around to creating a disk image in that my regular software hadn't been installed yet. Restore points were only a few hours old, but I did choose one and the results were the same. I guess I should do another clean install since I don't have software yet installed. |

ControlPanel--Sys&Security--Sys--AdvancedSysSetting--Advanced--Startup&Recovery: choose Win 7 and set wait time to 0 All appears to be normal at this time |
