Windows 7 Install problems
Hi, just got Windows 7 64bit home premium OEM and i have some issues installing it.
First, i have Windows XP Professional running at the moment, and i have a computer who satisfy the the system requirements for Windows 7. The problem is that when i insert the DVD the OS it starts loading and stops at the "Starting Windows"(in the Windows 7 install process) screen, where it stops, i left it for an hour but nothing happend. tried many times. Some people say i have to either wipe my HDD or format it, but i am unsure if there are any settings that I've missed. Any Ideas? And BTW, i have the English version, and I'm based in Norway ![]() TNX Last edited by jordansuper; 11-18-2009 at 03:16 PM. Reason: Some missing information (TNX EzyStvy) |

You Can NOT upgrade XP to Windows 7....Have you backed up all of your important data/emails etc??? The installation will wipe out all of your programs etc.
Once you're ready - you will need to BOOT OFF the Win 7 dvd....You might have to go into the BIOS and change the boot order to CD/DVD Drive first. |

It's not an upgrade DVD, however i want to find out why my pc freeze at the "starting windows" screen, (in the installation for Windows 7 not the XP start-up, sorry for the misunderstanding here) and why the installation not continue.

The DVD is holding the OS Windows 7, this i want to install on my computer currently holding XP, now the DVD is loading the Windows 7 files, and then a black screen saying "Starting Windows" appears with the Windows logo. here it stays for ever. It's supposed to continue to the install but it don't. I am aware that i have to format. its weird that it doesen't work. you don't happen to know how to format a HDD without installing a new OS so i can install Windows 7 later, like a wipe or something?
