Windows 7

Can some of you please advise me whether to buy the Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate operating systems for my new computer? Price is no object.

Are the differences between them significant?

What are their advantages and limitations?

Find the Windows 7 HOME PAGE and read about the differences between the vesions...Pick the one that meets YOUR needs.

Or the quick answer-> Home Premium will work for most typical users.

Here are some comparison/info links...

"Consumers are really only picking between Home Premium and Professional. There's no more Home Basic in the civilized world, which was a gimped version of Vista that didn't have Aero or Media Center that a lot of consumers unwittingly got stuck with. Ultimate, for the most part, won't be very visible to the average guy says Microsoft. So you'll only get Ultimate if you know that's what you want from the start (meaning you're likely tech savvy enough to wade through the SKU muck). Regular people won't ever see Starter or Enterprise. Basically, you'll walk into Best Buy and pick either Home Premium or Professional"

Windows 7 is best.Because it has better features then the other. And Windows 7 is a vast improvement from Vista as it takes up much less ram and has other optimizations such as fast booting times. I recommend Windows 7, and if you really don't want vista and don't want to wait for the final version of Windows 7, you can download a copy of the Release Candidate from the Microsoft website for free and use it up till June of 2010. I am working with the Release Candidate right now and so far I have absolutely no complaints, considering Im a heavy computer use with advanced software.

Windows 7 was released on Oct 20, 2010. So there is no waiting. When I compared Win7 Pro to Ultimate the only difference was that Ultimate came with a language pack, and Bit Locker disk encryption software, so I opted for Win7 Pro. Which also has XP mode, and the Home version doesn't.

-He wasn't asking about Vista. He was wanting to know the difference between the Windows 7 versions.
-You can no longer get the RC (Release Candidate) from the Microsoft site.
-Windows 7 is out now for retail purchase...has been for a month.

-We are not in 2010 yet...unless I just woke up from a very long nap.
-There are more differences between Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate then just language pack & BitLocker. Check out one of the comparison charts in the links I supplied in the above post.
