32 or 64 bit ?

My laptop is an AMD Turion 64 with 2 GB of ram. Will 64 bit install OK?

Yes, it's a 64-bit processor, so you would be able to install a 64-bit O/S. However, the general consensus around here is that the only Windows O/S worth installing in 64-bit mode is Windows 7, due mainly to software & driver support (or lack thereof) in its predecessors.

Let me add to this question by asking what advantage would installing the 64 bit win 7 be over the 32 bit for the average user?

There are some general performance and multi-tasking performance gains, plus you'll be able to use more than 3.5GB (3.5GB RAM is the 32-bit limit, but since trulad only has 2GB, this won't affect his machine).
