It will wipe your drive clean (which is normally a good idea) and you will be forced to reinstall ALL Programs. If you get the correct upgrade dvd you wouldn;t have to reinstall everything. Its your call

The Clean Install will turn your main C Drive partition into a Virgin/nothing on it at all.
And then it'll install win 7. |

From my own experience of upgrading from XP Pro using Clean Install, it still retains all the old Windows files in a seperate folder (C:\Windows.old), so it doesn't wipe the drive altogether. I assume this folder needs retained for validation purposes going forward.

What Jukeboxs said.
I did a clean install from Windows XP and it did retain some of my old files. More then I expected, but you will have to install all software that is not part of Windows. I.e. Microsoft Word, your antivirus, anti spyware, and any games of other programs that you use. If you have custom Desktops, etc, back them up and don't forget your e-mail address books. Favorites and stuff like that. Mike |
