I did a restore on my Toshiba laptop because of problems with screen and pop ups etc.
Now when you right click "computer" and click "roperties" it says the ram is only 1014 mb Before it said 1 GB ram wth happened ?? |

First, 1000 mb = 1 gig, second, if your having a pop up issue, I would suspect some form of malware, using system restore won't fix that. I would recommend you download malwarebytes and do a full system scan.

Sometimes you get lucky and the recovery disc will fix a malware issue (if malware is your problem) but many times it doesn't help. If you still feel you have an issue and malwarebytes didn't find anything, I would also try Trend Micro's "Housecall", http://us.trendmicro.com/us/housecall/. What are you using for antivirus/spyware protection?

Before I would take the word of Best Buy, I would run the manufactures diagnostic tool on the hd.

Even though it tested bad, if it were mine, I'd drill a few holes through it before I discarded it.

Even if a hard drive of mine goes bad, I never get rid of it. Never know who may get it and be able to revive it. Just use it as a paper weight.
