I would try booting to safe mode then rolling back the video driver you installed by using device manager. I would also suggest using the manufactures web site for any hardware driver upgrades you choose to install, a good rule of thumb is, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

what type of a graphics card is it (brand/model)?
is this an OEM pc or clone?

also try this:

1. Restart your system;

2. When the system first boots, type F8 to bring up the boot menu;

3. Select the Safe Mode with Command Prompt option;

4. Log-on as administrator if needed;

5. At your command prompt type:" %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe" (without the quotes):
6. Hit Enter;

6. This will open the system restore wizard…

Recovery disk are PC specific, in other words, no, you can't use one made on a friends computer. You could us a friend's Win 7 disc to try and boot from.

A few questions:
1) What is the make and model of your computer?
2) Your purchased Win 7 as an on line download, and didn't get a CD/DVD, where did you buy it from?
3) You reboot and start tapping the f8 key and the computer won't go into safe mode, what error do you get?

Send a message via ICQ to Kangaair
Have you tried removing the new hardware and then try to boot.

This advice is spot on; but that doesn't help you now. It is good to remember for the future. Usually the Windows Update is behind the manufacturer in drivers. But even if a new driver is on the manufactures site, if everything is working properly, don't upgrade.
