Windows 7 shutdown problen after install
I am doing an upgrade install on an HP Pavilion a6257c running Vista.
First I did an upgrade install retaining Vista files. Then the computer would not shutdown without forcing the on button. Finally I did another install... doing a custom install. It saved the old files in a file called " Windows.old. After I set up Windows 7, it still would not shutdown without forcing the on button. Prior to installing, the computer shutdown properly. I can not determine how to get it to shutdown properly. Any ideas on how to proceed? Thanks |

Problem solved: after doing a repair install and another custom install and still same results... I finally removed one piece of hardware at a time. The install suggests you be connected to the internet for the install.. and I had used a wireless adapter to connect remotely to my router.
Finally I removed one item at a time, and when I removed the lan adapter the computer turned off okay. I guess Windows 7 let it connect, but did not like the item. I had looked in " event viewer " for any ifo, but guess I did not know what I was looking for. |

I've heard of these situations a few times and it seems to be mostly related to outdated drivers.
Great that you have resolved your problem. |
