Question IE8 problem

HI Gang

Has any one else had problems with IE8 and Win 7.? If I click on certain sites, like Craigslist I get this little box saying "IE8 has Stopped Working".

I have read several fixes that are saying it is a DLL file that needs updated, to clean out your garbage. Has any one really found out what is causing this.?

Thanx.....Gunny

Wish I could help ya, Gunny, but my Win7/IE8 machine has never burped since I installed Win7. Been running it for a few months now with no issues at all. Have you checked to be sure you have installed all available updates from MS?

Hi Panama

Hey no problem, I am glad yours is working like it should and mine is too for the most part. This problem just started, up till now it has been smooth sailing.

Ya I am up on my updates, it is set for auto and I check myself too. This don't seem to be a strange problem, seems a lot of people have this problem. I just thought you brainy people would have a quick answer. I have tried several things already with no results. Oh well some one will come up with an answer I am sure.

Thanx...Gunny

Does it error out on the exact same spot at Craiglist?

Look for the run IE "withOUT add-ons" option and see how that goes.

Hi EZY

Ya the box opens as soon as I click on Craigslist, it never gets to Craigslist. But yet some of them, (sites) will open ok. Like Nascar, IMDB, etc. These are the sites I have in my top toolbar. I have been using IE8 for a long time and this acted this way some time ago for a couple of days then started working ok, now it is back.

Thanx....Gunny

Hi EZY

That did not do anything. But here is some more info that might shed some light on the problem.

I can Google say Craigslist and it opens ok, but If I click on the one in my favorites, that I have as my IE8 add ons, it gives me the little box. So what I did was brought up the Craigslist thing again and added it to me IE8 favorites, and clicked on it and it opened just fine.

So does this tell me maybe that link is corrupted.? I know I have used it ever since I have had IE8. Some but not all of the add-ons give me this little box of doom. maybe we are barking up the wrong tree here.?

Thanx...Gunny

Hi ThePoor

Ya tried that too. I am at the point that I really think some of these links over time get corrupted some how. And you have to delete them and get a new link, which is no big deal. I was thinking it was a IE8 problem, but the more I look into it I don't think so. It is just doing what it is supposed to do with a bad link. I am not 100% sure that ones like you suggested could not be a problem too. But so far just doing what I said has fixed the IE8 box for now. So every time I get this box when I click on a site now, I auto go to that site and get a new add on, and delete the old one. Unless I start getting the little box all the time, I am content doing this.

Thanx....Gunny
