Can i upgrade a windows vista home basic SP2 to a different edition of windows vista?

i have a Windows Vista home basic at first when i click Windows any time upgrade i can upgrade to any editions of windows vista... when i installed Service Pack 1 and 2 it came out that i cannot upgrade anymore... when i click "Compare editions" it go to the microsoft website... and compare editions...
What should i do now?
