IE8 doesn't allow me to use Yahoo Email
On my laptop I can't use IE8 to read or send email from my Yahoo account. IE keeps shutting once I get in saying it is protecting me. I don't have this problem on my desktop and my son's laptop also does not have this problem with his Yahoo account. I don't have problems using Hotmail though (an M$ service!!!!). I also don't have problems using Firefox on Yahoo. this is specific to the IE8 installation on my laptop.
I tried lowering some security settings in IE but that did not seem to help. Maybe I didn't touch the right settings. |

I have a bank account that will not open with IE8 as well. My solution is to use Firefox. I have changed to using Firefox and only Firefox. It just seems so much better than IE8.

It seems no one has a solution to my problem??? As you can see I also use Firefox to get around the problem. But there has to be somewheres in IE8 where it can be told to behave properly. My son's laptop is almost the same as mine yet it works for him but not me.

I feel your pain but when going to Firefox, fixed my problems, I asked myself, why bother with IE8. So I have spent zero time trying to fix it. My fix was Firefox.

Hi
You might want to give Google Chrome a try too! Since I tried it I haven't opened Internet Explorer or Firefox. Mike |

I liked Chrome but when I tried it but it appeared like SpyWare Blaster and Ad-Aware did not work with it. Was I wrong?

I would recommend dropped IE in any form or way. In the end, it will be YOUR personal preference, but coming from a security and web standards point of view IE ranks at the bottom of the list. Using a different browser such as Opera, Firefox, Safari or Chrome can greatly decrease the risk of a security issue on your PC as well as render many sites that you may visit properly.
On the other end, there are some sites that you MUST use IE with. Then and only then will I relegate to using one of their browser versions...

I have a Vista 7 dual boot set up and IE8 hangs my computer on both those OS'es.
I have always liked using IE8 but I have had to give up and start using Firefox. I'm only now discovering the coolness of Firefox. Personas are great!

A good way to open sites in IE8 that aren't up to speed with IE8 technology is a tool called Compatibility Mode, that allows you to view pages as they would look in IE6 or 7, with the speed and security of IE8. Here is a link explaining how to use it, should fix your problem:

Hi
I don't know about Adaware or Spyware Blaster, but I'm using "Super Antispyware" and it seems to work fine. I also use AVG Antivirus and run CCleaner every day. I have had no problems with spyware of viruses. Mike |

Sorry it's Malwarebytes that I'm using, I switched form Super Antispyware but both seem to work OK with chrome.
