Stable Win 7 Starts to BSOD
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
MSI P55M-GD45 LGA 1156 Micro ATX Motherboard OCZ Gold 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) MSI GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz LGA 1156 Quad-Core Processor CORSAIR 400W ATX12V This brand new build has a history of BSOD crashes due to bad RAM. I RMA's the OCZ RAM, got to new sticks and tested with MEMTEST. Passed with flying colors. I also stress tested the system with prime95 and SETI@home. Again no problems. The computer was dormant for about a week. When I started it up yesterday to tweak some backup options, it BSODed 4 times in a row, each time just a few seconds after bootup! Arrgh! I've posted the minidump files here. http://expedientweb.com/bsod-dump.zip Can anyone shed some light on the cause of my problem? Thank you VERY MUCH for any and all help. |

Reading Dump files isn't easy...I can't do it....Googling the STOP Code on the other hand sure will help.

Perhaps the event log would be more helpful?
The critical error that caused the BSOD appears to be the same each time. The gist of the error is below. Thanks! _____________________________________________________ The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. You might want to try a more powerful PSU, 400W seems a little lacking for your rig, especially if you have more than one HDD and a lot of USB peripherals connected.

I will consider that but it doesn't seem very likely to me.
I only have one HD. The motherboard uses two power connections and the Optical drive one more. The GPU pulls power only from the MB and I'm not using any other expansion slots or USB peripherals. So I would think my power requirement are about as minimal as they get. Thanks for the suggestion, however. Is there any way to test the stability of the PSU? |

This is a very useful writeup on figuring out what caused a BSOD:
