How to reset/fix color output of Windows Picture Viewer?
Hi guys, I have a problem with Windows Picture Viewer. When I upload or download any photo the color, when opened with Vista's Windows Picture Viewer is incorrect. When you look at the pictures inside the folder (before opening individual files) they are correct tone/brightness.
Also if you use any other software like Canon's software or quicktime to view the picture the color/tone is correct as well. When I open it with window's Windows Picture Viewer the color is yellowish, even the border inside the window, that is supposed to be white is yellow. Its like when someone is playing with photo's tone, its stuck on yellow. I messed with and checked all the settings available but nothing is found to reset it or something. I could use the other programs but this one is faster and very basic, so I want it to work.

Calmius,
Windows picture and fax viewer is not color managed or at least not in XP which is what I am running. If you monitor is calibrated then the thumbnails will look correct but not when opened with WPFV. This is also more prominent if you are running a wide gamut monitor which will make colors look more saturated. If you are interested in a program that can run fast in order to cull through pics or just view them, you might want to try irfranview as it can be color managed. I use irfranview, Capture NX2, and Photoshop CS2 for my RAW files but occasionally WPFV even though I know my images look oversaturated.
