More restore point questions

Just noticed printing problem with Excel 03 (that will be another posting) and a suggestion from a MS page was to restore to an earlier time. I tried to do that, but after getting rejected by my 8 previous restore points, I again have to question--what is the sense of having restore points if my system won't allow me to restore? I understand that there may have been some critical updates involved, but doesn't that defeat the whole purpose? BTW, I am using Win 7 HomePrem on a new computer with just the basic software apps installed.

I think those updates would be in between changes and not a good place to revert. I think that there is no way that the computer could know if the changes are reversible just that something is changing that should be backed up. Also, I suspect that the times it chooses to protect are just a certain time (or amount of time between) or as stated above just before major changes are to be done. I agree it is annoying. Goback seemed to be a better system.

Hi

I have found that when I create my restore points manually they are more reliable then the ones that Windows creates automatically and will usually work. I do one about once a week just in case.

Good idea, MikeMoss. I'll be sure to make that a habit.
