Problem with Windows 7 "Pictures"

In mid Dec. 09, we built a new computer with Windows 7 Ult. Everything was working fine until Mid March '10 when I noticed while downloading pictures from my camera and the internet, I am getting a blue rectangle with two right facing chevrons covering almost a third of the area on the thumbnail pictures. This blue area is on a great number of thumbnails, but not all of them. I have tried scanning for virus' and malware, but both come up clean. If anyone knows how to get rid of this problem, I would greatly appreciate it, as it is quite annoying. Thanks

Any chance of doing a screen capture and picture upload and letting us see what the problem is?

Did you install any new software that defaulted as the picture viewer?

No new software has been installed for quite a while. This problem started several weeks ago, and I am at a loss as to finding out what caused it. In some albums, the blue is only on a few thumbnails, while other albums are clear, and the rest are covered completely. If I click on a picture in a clear album, the blue seems to spread to others.

Hi

I saw some one else with a similar problem.
They described the same Icon that you are.

They said that this was the solution for them!
Could be corrupted ShellIconCache

Hope this helps.

Mike

Thanks to you, Mike Moss, because of your help, my problem has been corrected. I can't understand why it would appear three months after installing Norton. Possibly auto updates? Thanks again guys for your suggestions. Mike K.
