PC stops booting after installing Windows 7 x64 updates
Hi everyone. I've got a desktop that I've installed windows 7 x64 ultimate on and it installs fine and seems to run great after the install finishes but when I install all of the available windows updates it just hangs on the windows logo when it reboots.
After this happened once I reinstalled windows and the same thing happened again. So then I reinstalled a 3rd time and made an image of the drive before installing updates. Then I installed updates one by one (rebooting between each install) and all of the critical updates seemed to install without causing the "Hang" except this one: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...9-da12338587e3 So then (after restoring the imagine again) I installed all the critical updates at once excluding that one that's causing problem and it rebooted fine. Then I installed all the optional updates (excluding the language packs) and once again it would not reboot, so one or more of the optional ones causes problems too, though I haven't taken the time to identify which one it is. Is it common for certain updates to cause the PC to not boot? Never had this problem with XP. My relevant hardware is: Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe AMD 3800 X2 3GB DDR400 GIGABYTE GV-R435OC-512I Radeon HD 4350 512MB Forton 450 Watt PSU WD Caviar Black 1 TB (Contains Windows partition and seperate storage partition) WD Caviar Green 1 TB (Backup drive) Any thoughts? Thanks in advance Last edited by jimmyrules712; 04-26-2010 at 08:55 AM. |

Have you tried booting the windows in Safe mode with either of those two updates? It is obviously some type of a software conflict.
