Howdy,
This is a very annoying problem: all of a sudden my menus are appearing shifted to the left, the only times they're in their proper place is when they are close to the left end of the screen. It's happening with all menus: context menus and the menus in all applications. Help!

Then what is?
Where YOUR cursor is will cause the menus to act accordingly. |

Ezy, I don't think it is as easy as that. You can clearly see that there is enough space, yet it chooses the left instead of the right side. The same thing happens with the second picture.
Where the anchor normally is on the top left and facing to the right, it is in the top right facing the left. He has messed some options up, but I have no idea how to fix it though. This is a simular thread that ended up being a drawing tablet that messes up the options. Have you recently installed wacom bamboo or something similar? Thread is here EDIT: I have searched the mighty internetz and this problem is ONLY linked to drawing boards faulty options. If you have NOT installed a drawing board I have no clue what you should do. Last edited by Anomo; 05-28-2010 at 06:02 PM. |

Anomo, yes, I do have a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet. I have had it for about a year now and it never gave me any trouble. All I remember doing yesterday was a Windows update. Other than that I have worked as I have for months. I don't know what could have caused this. I haven't used the tablet for a couple of days now and I noticed this problem yesternight. Thought a reboot would fix it; thought wrong.
Oh, I do remember having to do a manual reset to the machine yesternight too, because WMP hung. Maybe that was it. Your link doesn't work. Just as a rant, this Windows 7 has turned out to be a very expensive piece of junk. It's slow as a handicapped snail, apps run slower than in Vista, they also take longer to start. Overall it's a mess. Vista never gave me any problems. Only reason I upgraded is because I wanted to go 64-bit. I'm really looking into switching to Mac, only thing that stops me is $$. Thanks. |

Wacom is known for having slightly buggy drivers. Nothing harmful, but irritating when they do go wrong :P ex. mine didn't work after a restart :P
Ok, I can't seem to find the thread again, but here is what I remember. You have to go into control panel and choose Tablet PC (or something like that). Then you go to advanced and sett it to automatic. Does any of that make sense? Edit; The link didn't work 5 min ago (on google), but it does now. Here it is Last edited by Anomo; 05-29-2010 at 03:07 AM. |

Update:
The menus are back to normal. I did find where the problem was/may again be thanks to the thread you posted, Anomo. This time, Wacom was not the culprit, but Windows. No surprises there. Unlike previous versions of Windows, Win7 has gone all out with support for pen tablets and the OS comes with its own set of tools which compete with the manufacturer's (hence Vista never gave me trouble with the tablet). As Statica suggested, I tried to change the orientation from right handed to left handed in the Wacom control panel: to no avail. But when I did the same in Win7's own pen tablet control panel it did the trick! Menus are back to where they should be now. I wonder if I can uninstall Windows 7 control panel and support for pen tablet; I am reluctant to as I fear the OS may override again Wacom's controllers and disable my tablet. I have disabled Win7's service and left the Wacom service run alone. We'll see what happens, so far the tablet is still working in all apps and all across the OS (something it didn't do in Vista, I couldn't use the pen tablet in the OS itself, only in graphics apps). Hopefully it'll stay like this until I make the move to another OS. Thanks everyone for your input. |
