Hot Swap Drive in Windows Server 2008

Ok, so I am aware that Server 2008 is based off of Vista and for my new Server 2008 install I provided the AHCI drivers during install (just to be safe even though Server 2008/Vista supports AHCI) and once everything was up and running, I didn't notice the tray icon to safely remove drives like there should be... I can't seem to figure out why. Anyone got any ideas?

Are you wanting to hot swap internal or external drives?

Internal. I have a hot swappable HDD cage in the front of my case that occupies 3x 5.25" drive bays.

Hi There,
I have been using Hot swapping for the past 5 years, but have never seen the "safely remove hardware" icon for hotswapping SATA drives on any Intel system / or Intel based Motherboard that I can remember. This is one of the most confusing aspects of "Hot Swapping" I have come accross. Do find it on many AMD based systems though. We use a free utility called "hotSwap!" and have removed thousands of SATA/AHCI drives from systems without ill effect. All operating systems.
