windows 7 ie 8 problem very annoying
i have a samsung laptop which has been working great and still is except on some websites it wont open the page. it goes to loading and a blanc screen comes up and never loads. this is random tho because at other times it will load. its not on perticular websites just random. i tried the same sites on firefox, google chrome and the same problem happens so must be a problem across all my internet browsers.
i have a dell laptop running xp and used them side by side and the dell got into the sites fine so must just be a laptop setting maybe windows 7? as they are both on the same internet connection and are wired. sorry if it not too clear im a bit of a newbie who needs help many thanks p.s its running windows 7 with i.e 8 |

It's probably the ipv6 addressing that Win7 has enabledby default. The new ipv6 standard is being slowly adopted because we are running out of ip addresses under the old standard, ipv4. It's known to cause problems on certain hardware like the one you are experiencing, i.e. certain websites either not loading or taking forever to load, generally erratic DNS resloution problems, etc. Here's and article on how to disable ipv6:
http://www.addictivetips.com/windows...-in-windows-7/ If you are using firefox, you can disable ipv6 for firefox only without editing the registry by doing the following: 1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press EnterReturn. * The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page. 2. In the Filter field, type network.dns.disableIPv6. 3. In the list of preferences, either double-click network.dns.disableIPv6 to set its value to true or right click on the entry and select "Toggle". Test firefox and see if the problem is resolved. If it is, the above linked registry edit for win7 may be worthwhile for disabling ipv6 system wide. Last edited by kilgoretrout; 06-11-2010 at 11:31 AM. |

The problem you are having is very common. I've seen it many many times and there is no real answer to fix it.
I will suggest these: Flush your DNS Start > Type in "CMD" > Enter > type in IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS and Reset your Winsock Start > Type in "CMD" > Enter > type in netsh winsock reset make sure you are running CMD as administrator, type in CMD and right click CMD > Run as Admin

I know its not a cure but its a quick solution..I use a different browser when the one I normally use does not work for a website.

He has already tried different browsers and that isn't the problem. The problem is either the DNS or winsock. It's very hard to find out why it does this because I've seen it many times and could never find a direct solution.
