Unable to Boot from Recovery Partition
Hey everyone. I have a HP Pavilion a6077c TV PC desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit). I want to boot from the recovery partition which was originally Vista and start all over with a clean install of Vista. I then want to load Windows 7 on there. The problem is whenever I restart the computer and hit F11 (to start the recovery) nothing happens. It just loads normally. I can hit F10 and enter setup just fine.
Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Why don't you just reformat it and reinstall Windows 7 from your DVD?
The HP article says you need to hit F11 repeatedly from a cold powerup. |

I downloaded Windows 7, so I don't have the disc version. After talking to some customer service people, it turns out that the only way to delete the partition is to order the recovery discs from HP and have them mailed to me. Then I can delete the partition. Windows 7 will not recognize the HP Vista partition.
I got a Vista installation disc and reinstalled Vista on the computer. I had read an article that said you could just delete the partition using the HP Recovery program or something like that. After reinstalling Vista and searching for the program, I realized that this Vista did not come from HP so it did not have the necessary program. I then restarted the computer, booted from the installation cd, and deleted the partition (yeah, I know, I should have just done that the first time). So long story short, problem solved. |
