Hi all,
So I recently booted up my desktop PC thats been lying around for a while and soon found it was infected with the pesky "AV Security Suite" virus. After reading a few tips online, I decided it would be easiest to use system restore to solve the problem. So far so good, no annoying pop-ups from the virus and by all looks it seems like I may have gotten rid of it. However, for some reason, I am no longer able to connect to the internet. My PC is hard-wired to my router and while it doesn't connect, another PC hardwired to the same router as well as wireless electronics connect just fine. So I don't believe the router is the problem. I've got "Local Only" access but no matter what I try I can't get a connection. I re-updated my mobo's drivers from the manufacturer website, including the Ethernet drivers so I'm not sure what else to do. Ideas? (Running 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium) |

I have run into the same problem, not with that same malware though. Try turning your computer off and back on a few times. Let it run for a little while each time. Sometimes Windows fixes the problem on its own.
If that does not work then try reinstalling the network related drivers that came with your motherboard disk. Or go to your motherboards website (obviously on another computer), get those drivers and transfer them onto a USB flash drive and install. If that fails you may still have the malware. Some malware defends itself by shutting down your ability to access the internet. In this case you may have to slave your C: drive to another computer and run something like Malwarebytes from the other computer in Safe Mode to scan your computers drive. I had to resort to this when my son downloaded a particularly nasty trojan that prevented me from installing new anti-malware software or updating his computers existing anti-malware software.
