How do I make a installation disk set?

Hi

I downloaded Lord of the Rings Online free to play and installed it on my computer so that I can play with a friend of mine.

I also downloaded the low res version for him to run on his older computer.

The installation folder is 6.91 GB, and contains 11 files plus a Setup.exe file.

I would like to make a set of 2 DVDs that will run the install and prompt me for the second DVD and continue.

I know I can copy the files from the DVDs I make to his computer and install from there but it would be nice to just do the install directly from the disks.

Can anyone tell me how you do this?

I remember back in the old floppy disk days I used to do this all the time.
But I don't have a clue in Windows 7.

Id' say to just burn everything to a dual layer DVD and make sure Setup.exe is in its root directory. I don't think you need an autoplay.inf or whatever it was with Windows 7.

Hi

I don't have any dual layer disks handy, it will take two disks to copy the whole install program. Which I have done, I don't know what will happen if I just put in the first disk and start the process, when it gets to the end of the data, will it ask me for more or just stop. I can't try it on my computer because the install program is structured it such a way the it won't let me install the low res version on my computer if I already have the high res version on it, which I do.

I thought there was a process for creating a disk set the would prompt you to insert the second disk at the appropriate time, like the ones you get from the manufacturer. This was common with floppies because their capacity was so small, even one large file could requite several disks. But if there is I can't find anything about it.

I'll just have to take the disks to his house tomorrow and try it.
If it does't work I will have to copy the data to a folder on his hard drive and install from there.

Thanks for the help

Mike

You can't modify the installer to make it do that. Your only option is to use Winzip to create a one .zip file and then span it across two or as many CDs/DVDs. You can even create an executable in Winzip that upon being run will expand the files to a folder in your target computer and from there the Setup.exe for the game can be run.

Hi

Thanks for the info, I'll just copy all the stuff to his hard drive and install from there.
