Question Windows 7 Starter PW Issue

A friend of mine was just given a SAMSUNG NP-N210 notebook with Windows 7 Starter as the OS. Problem is his friend cannot remember the PW he created when he initially logged into Windows the first time. So now that someone is trying to make use of it ( the friend of mine ), he can't even log on to Windows yet. I tried to help him by running the Recovery solution, F4 during boot, and restoring everything to initial setup with no luck. I believe The guy who originally bought the notebook made a backup of his windows settings on his very first time starting it up. But i cant seem to restore the system back to before that Information was entered and saved. If there is something im missing or a simple way to just reset the PW or take another route to achieve that goal i would much appreciate it. If there are any specs or other bits of info u might need to answer this just ask. Thankyou.

Never seen Starter Edition, but if it's anything like XP Home, if you start it in Safe Mode, the Administrator account will be available in addition to the named user account. If it is, hopefully it is accessible without a password. If you get in that way, the password on the user account can be changed.

Yeah this was the first i had seen of a "starter" edition as well. And i cant seem to figure out how to bring up safe mode, f8 has no effect.I even tried doing a hard shutdown during the boot process in hopes that it would automatically restart in safe mode. Any other ideas here?

The Samsung Recovery Solution should include the factory defaults as one of its options.
