Fax accounts are inaccessible
My friend is running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit on his desktop computer. He uses Windows 7 fax program to receive all his faxes via a modem in the computer. He does not send faxes from his computer. He is the only user on the computer.
Recently when he opens the fax program you can see the message refreshing and then the message "All fax accounts are inaccessible." The computer can still receive faxes which can be viewed by navigating to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\WindowsNT\MSFax\Inbox. A couple days prior to noticing the problem we were trying to network his laptop also running Windows 7 Home premium to his desktop so the printer and files could be shared, though with no success. I wonder if we changed something while trying to network the 2 computers that may have contributed to the fax problem. I say this because when I initially went to the inbox there was a lock on it. I right clicked on the inbox and then clicked on share with homegroup which may not have been the correct way to unlock the inbox. This took away the lock off the inbox, but had no effect on being able to access faxes in Windows Fax and Scan program. Your help is greatly appreciated. |

I created a new fax account that solved the problem.
