acer aspire
My daughter has an acer aspire one series ZG5.It runs windows vista, she was complaining of it running sluggish so told her I would do recovery to factory condition. There is no cd with the netbook, but has the recovery on a program called Erecovery , well now it stalls at 43 %.The warranty period has run out so just wondering if the only solution is to phone and pay for the recovery cd? this also comes with no optical drive, so i assume you have to transfer to usb drive? Any ideas apreciated
Thanks |

You'll need an external CD drive. And yes, if the recovery program stalls, it's possible that its files andor the hidden partition in which they're ensconced are corrupt; thus you'll need to purchase the factory recovery CD if you didn't create one when you bought it.

Not sure how much they will charge you for the recovery CD but another option might be to pickup Windows 7 OEM and do a fresh install. You won't have to worry about all the bloatware that will most likely come with the recovery option which would result in a smoother and faster running system.
Just a thought.

The recovery CD, at about 30 dollars, is cheaper. You can always decrappify later.

You will still need an external CD drive as mentioned above. I recommend checking Newegg or Craigslist. Here is a link to some externals on Newegg: Newegg.com - External DVD Drive, External DVD Burner, External DVD-R, External CD Burner, External DVD+R, External CD Drive . It is a great investment for a Netbook, especially if you are making backups of your software.
