Boot XP Professional without password
Hi,
My friend bought her corporate Thinkpad when they upgraded, she wants it to boot straight to Windows with no password. I went into User Accounts and the screen looked different. There is no option "take the check mark out of use welcome screen" like I usually see. I'm afraid to use the Reset password and make the PC unusable. Does anyone know how I can get rid of the password and have it boot straight to windows? I don't know if they have it locked because they were a buisness. TIA

TweakUI - Powertoy from MS has an option to disable it...or:
1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok. 2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

Thanks for the quick reply EzyStvy but the users tab has no "user must enter a user name and password to use this computer" box? All it has is "password for administrator" box that has "to change the password for administrator, click reset passoword". I'm afraid to do that, it is ok?
