Win 7 restore function
Is the win 7 backup and restore functionality worthy? Or is Acronis still the way to go for creating an image?

Well, it seems that Windows 7's backup gives you the ability to do a system image too. If so, you may not need Acronis. From my experience, the tools that Windows provides are pretty basic, then again, sometimes basic is all that you need. Then again again, I haven't used Windows 7 backup, or Acronis for that matter.
I would explore Windows backup's image creation first, and if it works for you, then that's all you need.

I have created a backup with it on 3 computers.
I had no problem creating the restore disk and the repair disks boots and appears as if it would do the restore. I have not yet had to actually do a restore from it, but I assume it would work. To be honest I also have a Ghost backup of all the computers too! So I guess that proves that I'm no 100% confident. Mike |

One can never be too confident with data.
