You shouldn't be able to type "google" (no quotes) in the Run prompt to access a web site, you should need to enter something like "firefox google" to be able to bring up google in a browser session. You must have some 3rd party app installed on your other machine that allows you to do that.

Guess I don't understand why you want to use the Run command to access web sites. Just open a browser and type the name of the site in the address bar (without www and .com). Then press Ctrl + Enter. That automatically adds the www and .com.

have you ever used a browser for such a task?
Would you be driving a car, while sitting on top of an engine?

The reason your links left off the www and com is we have "Automatically retrieve titles from external links" enabled. If you don't want this to happen when you post here, you can disable that in the advanced editing screen.
Now, an administrative note - please show a bit more respect for our members. There is no such thing here as a "dumb answer". Thank you. - Admin - |

It works fine in Windows 7 Pro. Something must be wrong with your machine. Some browsers need that you type in the http:// portion as well, such as Safari. But IE and FF work just fine. Point in fact, FF will accept just "google.com" and automatically add the http://www .

In any editing screen, choose "go advanced" then look in "additional options".
