New guy needs help swiping.
I installed Vista HP OEM the other day. I had to partition the hard drive so I used 20gb of space for the OS. And now I am out of space and can't intall all the updates. Any suggestions? This is a Gateway GT5658E. It doesn't have a floppy disk. Anyway I can expand the partitioned part without swiping?
I just spent the last 20 minutes trying to swipe the HD and start over from scratch, but had problems. I'm using dban. I burned the ISO file to a cd/rw. When I boot (F10) it gives me these options: Removeable Harddrive CDRom Network I chose CDrom. Then it only shows the available optical drive as the only option, which is what my dban disc is in. So I choose that. From their it automatically boots to Vista. Everything I read or watch tells me that it should go to "boot cd" which I should be able to type autonuke. But I haven't been able to do that anywhere and can't find any other options to make autonuke work. Thanks ahead of time. Jon |

Exactly how did you burn the iso?
You can expand the partition with this: Easeus Partition Master Home Edition - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com |

I guess burning and saving aren't the same thing?? When I chose the file I saved it to the cd. Never burned an ISO before. I'll try that link. |

Thanks, that link worked perfectly. 200gb for the OS and 300 left on the other partitioned part of the drive. Thanks for your help. Jon |

You have to use CD burning software to burn an iso - you can't just save it. It's an image, and has to be handled as such. For example, using Nero you choose burn a CD from a disk image or saved project.
