Keyboard stops working
I'm fairly certain it's a windows 7 problem. I have home 64 bit edition.
Basic details: keyboard suddenly stops working after boot up. I can use computer with onscreen keyboard. Even after several boots, keyboards are not functional. Have tried two ps2 keyboards and 2 usb with same results. Tried uninstalling and updating drivers to no avail. Keyboards lights up (key lock lights) on boot so it's connected. Just not working in windows. Any and all advice appreciated. Hate typing all this with mouse. |

Can you boot into safe-mode?

Yes I can get into safe mode... the keyboard works before windows starts. Once windows starts (even in safe mode), no go with the keyboard.

To rule out a hardware issue, boot it with a live Linux CD or a PE-based CD such as the UBCD4WIN.

I'll try this. But I'd thought since I know the keyboard works before windows starts, a hardware issue has been more or less eliminated. The motherboard is asus p7p55d. What kind of hardware issue cause the motherboard to lose communication with different keyboards with different inputs only after windows starts?

I have had this happen in Windows 7.
It was resolved for me when I reinstalled the drivers for my Microsoft Natural Elite keyboard. After that it worked fine. |

Hmmm... I think this is the same issue I am having... at the login screen, my keyboard is locked up and the mouse is off (no laser light), if I boot and use the option to disable driver signature enforcement, everything works fine, but I have to do this on EVERY boot.
So first, was this issue resolved? If so, how, if not... anyone have further ideas with the info I have provided?
