Ping keeps timing out

I am trying to ping the different servers where I play games to see my lag. The ping keeps timing out for any website that I try.

I have MSE turned off.

Thanks

Edit:
I did some looking around the Microsoft supprt site. According to it, I am supposed to change an Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) setting to allow an incoming echo request. Under the Advanced Tab in Windows Firewall, I don't see anything called ICMP.

You link say->Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

Are you using one of those OS's?

Are you pinging a IP address or a URL? Posting a couple examples might be a good idea.

I am using Win7 64

In the Command Prompt I am entering: "ping www.pcmech.com", Enter and trying "ping www.ebay.com", Enter ...just as a couple of examples.

I just tried it....it worked! I have no idea what changed.

Average 88 milliseconds for PCMech.

Ebay times out.

Second question, while running a multiplayer game, how do I ping the server that the game is running through?
