Audio Driver help
OK so i just installed windows 7 on one computers and i can't get the sound to work so i figured this would be a good place to start. The motherboard is a MSI k9n4 sli with a realtek AC'97 on-board audio. I went to the MSI website but no luck there. then i searched online and found some downloads but nothing seemed to work so from what i know of computers the on-board sound on this motherboard is fairly common so hopefully someone has found a solution, otherwise i could just buy a cheap sound card and do that but if i don't have to spend any money that would be cool.
So thanks for the help Ben |

Have you tried Windows Update? The optional updates section sometimes contains drivers for old hardware.

Hi
I just went through something like this on a friends Dell computer. After upgrading to Windows 7, every thing worked great but the sound. I tried reinstalling the drivers, I tried different drivers etc. nothing seems to help. Device Manger said that the device is working normally. Finally I went into device device manager and uninstalled the sound device. I also unplugged the speakers and rebooted the computer. When I restarted I got the Windows has found new hardware and is setting it up message. When I plugged in the speakers I had sound. I don't know if this will work for you but it's worth a try. It seems that Windows needed another shot a configuring it. Mike |
