Mouse Won't Interact With Desktop Icons

I am running Windows 7 64 bit and I have a logitec wireless mouse. My computer was working fine until today but now the mouse will not interact with the desktop icons. I cannot left or right click on the icons or right click on the screen. The mouse will interact with the taskbar and windows start menu and everything except the desktop icons. I have the latest drivers and am not sure why the mouse will not work with the desktop icons. Can someone please advise on what the problem could be. Thanks.

Do a system restore back to a time and date when it was working properly.
