windows 7 shut down problem
I am using windows 7 and have been for a year now home edition and 32 bit
It worked fine until about a month ago started taking ages to shut down and sometimes after it did shut down it would restart and message saying windows had a problem and didn't shut down right. I than shut it down and it would go off but next time I turned it on and tried to shut it down same thing would happen. I have cleaned registry checked for malware and did a virus scan had no problems in any of the last two. I also went into the startup programs and only have my virus protector to start up when computer turned on. I also did a defrag of my hard drive. Worked a couple of times and than started doing the same problem again this time I noticed it shut off the monitor but the computer stayed on I turned the monitor back on but it wouldn't stay on so not sure what any of this means. Any help would be appreciated. Have read on internet when put the problem on lots of people having same problem but most of theirs was with a laptop. Mine is a desktop. Thanks |

Check your bios settings, disable all "wake" events such as "WOL" (wake on lan).

I had the same problem on my desktop a few months ago. I just reinstalled the OS again and all the updates . Since I did that everything has been working fine.
