True Image? or is W7 backup any good
I just built my first machine thanks to the wonderful people here.
I also moved from XP to W7. I use to run Acronis True Image 11, but I see W7 has it's own backup and recover built in. Any pro/cons to W7? My only concern with W7 is whether it will actually make a real image of the disk - seems like it might leave stuff out. |

You can look in Windows Help file for a full description.
Might also consider taking it for a test drive....aka - make an image to another drive and try using that drive.

As far as I can see Windows 7 backup does a good job and makes an image that will restore your computer to the way that it was when you backed it up.
That being said I have yet to try and actually restore a computer using it. My Restore disk boots my computer and offers all the options so I assume it would work if I needed it to. I'm a security nut (I have years of graphic design files) so I have my hard drives (2) both backed up to 2 external hard drives using both Windows back up and Norton Ghost so if I ever have to restore my computer I'm hoping that at least one of them works.
