Dell Dimension 1100
I have Dell Dimension 1100 about 4 years old (or more).
I have been trying the Dell site with no result. I am wondering if I can update this computer to Windows 7 from xp pro. In some reading I have done, there is a leaning toward buying a 64 bit win 7 rather than 32. Is this right? I know I have to upgrade (I think) the video but the blasted Dell site keeps saying the page can not be loaded, troubleshoot your internet connection. Ideas? |

Nope, your only possible upgrade from XP is 32 bit Vista. 64 bit Vista and Windows 7 are not supported. Upgrading the video is not worth it because all you have are legacy PCI slots. Maximum ram is 2 gb.
That's more like 8 years old, by the way. Time to build a new computer. |

I could be wrong. Time drifts when one gets older. I bought this thing new from Dell. Oh well.

It's served you well. If you don't want to build your own, you can get a current Dell that will do everything but game for under 500 bucks. If you go to Dell Outlet | Refurbished Computers, Laptops, PCs & More | Dell you can get refurbs with a warranty.
