Legacy scanner on Win7
Hello.
I have an Epson 1240 scanner and I'm keen to use it on Win7. There is a 32 bit Twain driver. But this doesn't seem to install on my 64 bit Win7 XPS Dell. It doesn't come up with an error, just ends installing without actually installing. How do I install to run as 32-bit or just as XP, because Epson smart panel works fine on that. Any idea also where to get the latest Smart panel, without having to pay for it again. All help much appreciated, Dazzer |

The scanner comes with an attachment for scanning photo negatives. Can VueScan scan film negatives do you know?
Many thanks for your help, Dazzer PS if I did wish to install/run Twain as Win7 32 or Xp - how do I do that? |

The 1240 is not on the Epson Windows 7 compatibility list.

Not sure but I hear that the program will fix driver issues for Windows 7 64bit.

My Epson scanner a 1650 would not run in Windows 7 64 bit for a year so I used ViewScan. I think it will do what you need but you can try it for free and find out.
With my scanner I got a message about a month ago that Windows was loading drivers for my Epson Scanner and low and behold, it started working normally from Photoshop just as is always did in 32 bit. As far as downloading Smart Panel I didn't have any luck with that. But I always ran it from Photoshop anyway. Mike |
