PCI Input Device & VIA 1394 OHCI drivers missing
I hope that someone can help with the drivers issue I seem to have. Both of these drivers appear with the yellow question mark in the devices listing of my PC.
I have visited the ASUS website for 64bit drivers to help resolve this issue but the descriptions of the various drivers and categories of different drivers that are available make me hesitate to do anything out of concern that I may select the wrong ones and mess up my newly loaded system. This is largely because the drivers names don't match anything I can see on the website. What should I look for in order to take care of these question marks ? This is my mobo: ASUS M4A78-E AM2+/AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard Newegg.com - ASUS M4A78-E AM2+/AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard |

Thanks GLC. At the risk of sounding like a total newbee, how do I apply these drivers once I download them ? I know that double clicking on the yellow question-marked devices in the Device Manager list and then clicking the update drivers button when it comes up can do it but which drivers do I apply to which device ?
Also, I once heard that moving drivers into the system folder is a way to apply them, so is this a better way to ensure that all of them are applied automatically and to the right place on startup ? |

They are zip files. Download them, then create a folder for each one and extract them. You should find a setup.exe that you can run. It's just like installing software that you download.

Thanks again GLC. I downloaded and installed all the drivers you specified and only one item remains with the yellow question mark but this is the Creative Game Port which was identified as incompatible with W7 anyway.
However, this leads me to the next question I have. The issue I was hoping would be resolved with the drivers installed is sound. I have none. I have a sound card in one of my PCI slots and have the drivers downloaded for that but still nothing. I am not sure what steps I should take in doing a diagnosis to determine what the cause for this may be. Please note that I noticed that I also did not have sound when I first loaded XP onto this hard drive on the path to the upgrade that has succeeded now. So the lack of sound was there even with XP running fine. I have the following sound card installed: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card Newegg.com - Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card Thanks in advance for any advice I can get on this. |

Why don't you just use the onboard sound? That's one of the 3 drivers that I showed you.........

GLC - I took your advice, yet again. i removed the sound card I had, activated the HD audio in the bios and Houston - we have sound !!! Strange that the sound card would not work but I have read a bit about this on the web and apparently this is not too uncommon. I'll work on that some other time. For now, all is well and it's time to start loading up the files from the XP system I previously had.
Thanks again for your help !! |
