Dell Inspiron 1525 Painfully Slow AFTER Format
Hello folks! Long time no post
![]() My computer that I built with your folks help is running marvelously, however the girlfriend’s laptop is running terribly. I have never encountered such a terrible notebook. I'm a MIS major and I've been using/building computers since I was a wee lad, however I'm stumped. In every sense of the word, thing notebook is SLOW. I formatted with a genuine version of Windows 7 from our school (we are students at Western Connecticut State University). Right after the format, we attempted to install updates, and not a single one will install. Accessing the start menu takes at least 3 minutes to pop up, even attempting to open msconfig caused an error. I have run memtest, and it passed. Also, it's hard drive has failed once (a common cooling problem with these notebooks) and we have replaced it. I have never had a computer be reformatted and then rune EXACTLY as terribly as before. Any ideas folks? She and I are at our wits end. Tom

Run diagnostics - it sounds like the hard drive is failing again.

It wouldn't hurt to get the Win 7 Chipset, eithernet, wireless etc etc drivers from Dell.
