Angry Slow computer

OS Vista! It take a long time to boot up and a long time to shut down. Is their any way to correct this?

system specs or model number please. You may want to run hard drive diagnostics. Wouldn't hurt to make recovery discs (if brand name pc) and back your data up just in case.

Start by running CCleaner and Defraggler.
Both are available free, from...

Piriform - Products

Then run SuperAntiSpyware...

If it is still slow then come back with more info.

In addition to taking out the trash and eradicating the bad guys, go to System Configuration Startup and Services. See what is booting and what is running in the background. Uncheck whatever you do not need running in the background. If you are not familiar with the processes you will need to do a Google search to see what is necessary and what is not. Some processes are required for your computer to work.

You should also have the option to disable all. After you reboot windows will automatically restart what it needs to run...
