Dual monitors

Hey, im running widows vista. Recently the back light in my laptop went so in the mean time i have been using a tv with a HDMI cable until i get the screen fixed. It was working fine and the dispaly was cloned rather than extended, anyway curoisty got the better of me and i changed it to extend and now i can't change it back I have already unchecked the extend option and rebooted but its still not working. (So at the moment its back on the extend option and im using a lamp to see the laptop screen and trying to drag everthing over the the tv screen ) I appreciate any help guys

You should screen 1 and 2 in the display properties.

Click the IDENTIFY button to make sure the TV is #2... Then click on screen 2. Place a check mark in "This is my main monitor."

Yeah, i've tried this but the box is blanked/greyed out and doesn't let me put a check mark in it

Maybe you have to UNcheck it on screen 1 first. (i'm at a different pc now so i can't test.)

Hey, am it wasn't allowing me to do that either. So i did a quick google to see was there a way getting windows to let you switch your main monitor and turns out it was simple as pressing f8 and the function button together. So now the external monitor is my main one. Problem solved!
